Our Retired Cats & Cherished Companions
Our retired cats are cherished members of our cattery who have previously been part of our breeding program and are now enjoying their well-earned retirement. Each one has helped shape our program and contributed to the foundation of our lines, and they continue to live in a calm, loving home environment.
These cats remain deeply cared for and are still very much part of the Sugar Coons family. From time to time, some may become available for placement in carefully selected homes where they can continue their retirement journey as pampered companions.
Anubis
DNA: N/N for HCM, SMA, PK, PK Def
Hips: Left:Grade 2 Right: Grade 1via PawPeds (bad spine, hips and MDR1)
Echocardiogram: Scan done on Nov. 23, 2025 Perfect Heart
X-Ray on Oct. 15, 2025
Poor Anubis had hips that were unacceptable to be included in our program. We will be keeping up with routine exams & determine if surgery will be necessary. He is a gentle giant, faucet drinking, hungry boy that we love so much! My son has claimed him for when he moves out someday, haha.
Opal
DNA: N/N for HCM, SMA, PK, PK Def
Hips: Grade 1 both sides via PawPeds
Echocardiogram: Scan done on May of 2025 Murmur gone and healed on its own.
(Silver, white w/black ticking) Grade 1 Heart murmur. Spayed at 4 months old.
HCM retesting at 1 1/2 years old and I am happy to say that her heart healed itself and Opal will live a great long and healthy life. I made the hardest, but best decision as HCM is hereditary and would have potentially affected 1/2 or all her offspring. Opal is in the process of potentially going to a wonderful home to receive all the love from a very special little girl. As long as she responds as well as I think. Every decision will always be for the happiest fit for all.
Lemonade
DNA: N/N for HCM, SMA, PK, PK Def
Hips: Grade 1 both sides via PawPeds ( doesn't need surgery)
(black, silver with white and polydactyl) PennHip testing done and xrays. Lemon had hip issues and a perfect heart. She was my best friend. I cried when I spayed her. Lemon will not need surgery, but it was the best decision to pull her from my program. Lemon is living out her best life with the best of the best families and I get to visit as often as I can. She is truly loved and making her Dad, Thomas so very happy.

Truffle
Too young for testing. Spayed and now a beloved pet. Truffle was unfortunately pulled from the program due to having cantered eyes. Although I deemed her to be utter perfection with her stunning razor stripe markings and loving personality, it was the best decision for the betterment of the breed (not my heart). Truffle now lives in Colorado with an Amazing couple that sends photos of all her travels, harnessed walks and her many toys. I couldn't ask for more for the future of any of our sweetest babies.
